Dr. Edward Rustamzadeh sees patients from all over the nation. Please contact the office to schedule an appointment.

Dr. Rustamzadeh has made an indelible impression on me and my family members. A Medical Professional: Dr. Rustamzadeh is a neurosurgeon who has a great reputation as an outstanding surgeon and is widely known far beyond the boundaries of Silicon Valley. After receiving positive feedback about him from varied medical professionals, my family and I elected to have my surgery (ACDF) performed by him. After the surgery, we realized that we couldn’t have made a better decision. Bottom Line: Dr. Rustamzadeh is an amazing exceptionally gifted surgeon! The Human Aura: As Dr. Rustamzadeh’s patient, I had an outstanding experience beginning with the initial consultation, all the way to my post-op checkup in his office. During the first consultation, he told me I had the option to get a shot to cope with my pain; or I could choose to have surgery. He patiently explained the details of my condition and gave me his prognosis; he answered all the questions my wife and I had. Unlike most doctors, he did not rush us or brush off any of our concerns. He also made it clear that we should take our time to think it over before I opted for surgery. On the day of surgery, on my way to the restroom, I ran into him an hour prior to being taken to the Operating Room. His bright, cheerful acknowledgment of my presence infused me with confidence; I had the warm comforting reassurance that I was definitely in the hands of a surgeon who cares; he did not view me as just another case for surgery. Dr. Rustamzadeh’s personality, demeanor, and brief lighthearted conversation with me at that time had the amazing effect of replacing my anxiety with a peace and calm that comes from knowing that all will be well. Bottom Line: Dr. Rustamzadeh is charismatic and compassionate. A Stakeholder: Even after successfully completing a surgery, Dr. Rustamzadeh remains fully involved in his patient’s care. After I had been transferred from the recovery room to my own room in the hospital, Dr. Rustamzadeh (who was scheduled to perform more surgeries that day) called the nurse more than once to check on the status of my recovery and to verify that all medications were being administered appropriately. The nurse told my wife that despite his busy schedule, Dr. Rustamzadeh consistently calls for post-op updates on his patients instead of waiting to hear from her in case there is an issue.  Bottom Line: Dr. Rustamzadeh values each patient as an important individual, not just another “case” A Leader:  A great leader maintains a great team. Dr. Rustamzadeh holds himself to high standards, and his team of highly skilled professionals lives up to the same. In the pre-op room, I was impressed by the kindness, compassion, and thorough professionalism of all his team members. Dr. Rustamzadeh is an unassuming, humble, awe-inspiring highly skilled neurosurgeon. Dr. Rustamzadeh’s Office Staff  Nicole Saito: Dr. Rustamzadeh’s assistant, Nicole Saito, efficiently handled the messages I left with her. I was pleased with her attention to detail in her e mail responses. Pleasant, polite, and friendly, Nicole seems to be a very knowledgeable and experienced medical assistant. It was a pleasure to interact with her while I was under Dr. Rustamzadeh’s care. Rosario, who does not work directly for Dr. Rustomzadeh, often answered the phone. She has excellent telephone etiquette; it was always a delight to speak to her.

I had a back fusion about 3 and a half weeks ago by Dr. Rustazadeh, and I couldn’t be more happier. I didn’t have any disc on my left side which left me with a lot of pain, so Dr Rustamzadeh suggested i have a back fusion, because my bones were rubbing against each other like sand paper, and i was walking with a limp . Now after having the surgery,  i no longer walk with a limp and my progress with my healing is going well. I highly recommend this procedure if anyone is going through what I went through. Dr Rustamzadeh listened to all my questions,  and was very prompt is responding with all my questions. His staff in the hospital were great, very comforting and generally concerned about me as a person, even Nicole who helps runs the office, and is very caring,  and answers any questions I have, before and after my surgery. I couldn’t have asked for a better Neuro surgeon than Dr Rustamzadeh.  Sincerely Dean Drinnin

Dr. Rustamzadeh was a life changer for me. I had a really bad back problems for about 13 years and all the doctors wanted to prescribe opiates to mask the problem. When I asked for some sort of rehab I was told I’m to strong and in to good shape to benefit out of it. Dr. Rustamzadeh and the staff was amazing especially lady at the front desk Nicole. The office made me feel very comfortable and welcome. Thank you one more time for allowing me to continue my life pain free without any pain killers. If you are looking to solve your problems and not mask them Dr. R is the man to see.

I had surgery on my back the end of October 2016 . The difference in my back since the surgery is like night and day my pain is going away , I am reducing the amount of pain meds I am taking . DR R is amazing I am so happy that my Dr referred me to him . If you need back surgery he is the one .

Over a period of two years and after several visits to the hospital for major heart problems resulting in 5 angiograms and 7 stents placed in his main arteries, my husband was still experiencing pain through the neck and left shoulder.  The X-rays showed serious degeneration of the neck which was in the process of auto fusing. Very, very painful. Looking at the X-rays and considering his heart problems, his primary doc said there are very few surgeons that would even touch that, but one would …Dr Rustamzadeh. After getting clearance from his cardiologist and much prayer to the Lord Jesus, two weeks later Dr R did a total reconstruction of his neck C-2 through C7. He went through the front and the back of the neck. The surgery lasted approximately 8 hours. The recovery wasn’t too bad. He was off all pain meds in a week and today he is completely pain free! I can’t say enough good things about Dr Rustamzadeh. He is one awesome surgeon…an absolute miracle worker!!  Also, his staff is always so helpful and takes the time to answer any questions.

My first ACDF surgery was done by a Dr. In Los Gatos, CA In January, 2016. I felt good for about a month after my surgery. When I came back to his office complaining of pain, he told me”there is nothing else I can do for you, I did my surgery and it looks good” and he referred me to a pain management doctor where they offered cervical epidural aka “bandage” for my problem. So after, acupuncture, massages, 2 cervical epidurals and physical therapy I went to see Dr. Ranstanmzadeh with the same MRI that the doctor in Los Gatos saw before he send  me away and right away he saw the problem; the first doctor did half of the job he needed to do. It was obvious that I had more problems. Anyway…Two weeks ago I went for my surgery with Dr R. and  I feel like a million bucks compared with my first surgery, I’m recuperating fast and the pain is minimal. I went to see him today he was pleasant and genuinely happy to see my improvement. His staff, specially Nicole have been so helpful answering every question with  pleasant attitude.  I have spent almost a year in pain missing, family functions, dates with my new husband, holiday parties etc., and  I’m super excited to look forward to a normal and pain free life thank to this amazing doctor!

Dr. Rustamzadeh treated me for Piriformis Syndrome, with a 1-1/2 procedure and short downtime and made driving pain-free once again.  Up until discovering him, I had been told by other medical professionals that it was “difficult if not Impossible” to treat.  Not true.  Well worth the drive to San Jose/Los Gatos.

Definitely a 5 Star Neurologist.  My wife had spinal fusion, ALIF which is fusion of several discs L4/L5 L5/S1 , transact decompression and … well you get the picture. It was a major 6 hour long surgery and another 4 hours in recovery at El Camino Hospital.  She was in so much pain for so long prior to surgery!  And as promised she has zero pain now and is so happy!!! Dr. R was very professional and thorough prior to during and post surgery.  He took the time to explain things so that we understood what was going on and what we should expect.  He always stopped and asked if we had questions.  Of course we researched the procedures and had tons of questions that he answered even before we could ask.  He was a good listener and always made sure we were fully aware of what was going on. My wife and I found Dr. R to be very compassionate and caring.  He always spoke with us in a relaxed yet professional manner.  HERE’s an example of his compassion.  When her stitches were removed and the fluids taken from her back post surgery she became weak and faint.  He was so fast to take care of her to get her comfortable and make sure she was okay.  I’ve never seen a doctor have such care and concern for a patient.  That meant a lot to us.  Also kudos to Nicole who is a true gem in his office.  She was terrific in scheduling, insurance and especially great at getting our questions answered quickly.  She deserves a raise lol! We would definitely recommend Dr. R for back issues and surgery.

I am writing on behalf of my husband who had surgery performed in February.

He broke his neck at the C5 level.  The first doctor put him in a body brace to see if things would fuse.  After 2.5 months of things getting worse, he offered a 10-12 hour surgery.  Then we found Doctor Rustamzedeh. He said the 2.5 months wait should never have been offered, told us he could fix things with 3-4 hour surgery and a 3-4 day hospital stay.  Well, it took him 7 hours as more work was needed than what showed up on scans. If you are looking for skills, Doctor “R” is your man.  If you are looking for someone to sweet talk you, he will not.  He certainly cares but takes the business of healing you very seriously.  For my husband, he could not have been a better choice since the surgery was not your average problem.  For the money, we chose to go for expertise which he has in abundance and keep the fluff for something else. In reading other reviews, it must be pointed out that every patient must be honest with him or herself with regards to “wished for results” and “what results are possible.” No doctor can undo the damage of injury.  But they can set you on a course for healing and repair damage.  That may or may not be the same thing as before injury.  Dr R outlined what needed to be done and how things would be after surgery, in other words, what is and isn’t possible. He took a severely broken neck and made it functional and my husband is feeling pretty good after the recovery time.  My husband had right arm problems (paralysis) but  has followed his directions to the tee (some patients don’t) and we are seeing the paralysis almost gone, 3 months post surgery.  Overall, my husband is very happy with his results.

His way is  process of elimination to troubleshoot the exact problem I had made me very comfortable with surgery as my decision.First of all – I don’t get these negative reviews , it takes a lot to be the best surgeon for Stanford. I know that I will be feeling good soon as I recover ,as my surgery was a week ago. I have called numerous times to his office and they are outstanding in follow up which is very important to have a good office staff. To be exact David was above and beyond including his co worker’s name I don’t remember. Did surgery on my back and relieved my leg pain instantly. Was back to work the following week. I dont care what the other commenters say “he is a top notch surgeon in my book.”

Dr. Rustamzadeh was wonderful, my husband and I cannot be more grateful for his brain surgery expertise. I loved that he was pragmatic and straightforward about the process, and clear in his communication without being excessive. The surgery was very successful, quick, and professional. Highly, highly recommended.

our family can not forget him, and we recommend him to every body.

Every nurse we can into contact with said they would choose dr r if they needed surgery. There is no higher recommendation. They all loved working with dr r (so I doubt he yells at them). He contacted my husband within an hour of getting his MRI results and saw him that day. He spent another visit with him prior to the surgery. He is a man of few words because he has work to do. The nurses said he takes on the most difficult cases. We had two “issues” after the surgery and he responded to each call/question within ten minutes. One of the concerns had nothing to do with the surgery technically (a migraine) and he still helped us out. His staff was equally responsive and helpful. He is skilled, to the point, and effective. What more can you want from someone working on your spine. Thank you dr r.

Dr. Rustamzadeh relieved my debilitating back pain (a stenosis–a ligament inside the spinal column gets too thick and presses on the the spinal cord–hurts like an electric jolt if you move wrong). I had read a few negative comments sprinkled among the positives about his occasional outbursts in another posting, and was prepared for some friction. However, he was a nice guy throughout. Everything he told me to do after surgery worked to relieve my post-operative pain; everything he said he would do he did; he said he would remove my pain, and he did. He was pleasant and patient with me (I always ask a lot of questions and occasionally that frustrates busy doctors). I have had 8 surgeries over 40 years, four of them on my spine, so I have met a few surgeons along the way. Rustamzadeh is easily one of the best!

– From Vitals

I was referred to Dr. Rustamzadeh by a family friend who recently underwent a successful complex spine surgery. Besides that, I went online to gather additional information about Dr. Rustamzadeh through others reviews from different websites. Based on the referral and many positive reviews, I decided to make a trip to his office for a consultation. After being given a thorough explanation of my spine problems and what can be done to relieve the symptoms, I set up the date for my spine surgery without hesitance. There was no intraoperative event. The pain management regimen that Dr. Rustamzadeh prescribed for me, for post-op and for discharge, was well beyond my needs. My pain, numbness, and tingling sensation have gone away; my strength has been back to normal now (about 1 month post-op). I couldn’t be happier choosing Dr. Rustamzadeh as the surgeon to fix my spine problems and the related symptoms. He possesses great skills, honesty, and professionalism that one would search into for a great surgeon.

– From Vitals

“I just had my staples removed by Dr. Rustamzadeh for my L1/l2 stenosis repair. The surgery is healed up and the debilitating symptoms in my legs, back, & hips are completely gone! The nurses, clerical staff and anathesiaologist all raved about him before and after my surgery, and you can add me to that list. This is the third spine surgery I had with Dr. Rustamzadeh: he repaired a lumbar stenosis back in 2014, and repaired three badly staph-damaged lumbar vertebrae from a botched lumbar decompression operation in 2008 (by another surgeon) in an 8-hr operation in 2015. I was in considerable pain for 7 years and was taking 5 percocets a day. After that lengthy repair I went down to ½ a day, and sometimes none. Rustamzadeh does what he says and says what he does. He diagnosed my problems correctly every time, said that he could fix them, and then proceeded to do just that. The man is a miracle worker!”

Dr Rustamzadeh is by far the best surgeon he took care of me called to make sure I was doing ok he’s my surgeon for life he is the BEST, I went to see my old surgeon about my neck and after him being rude to me he said I see nothing. Thank God Dr Rustamzadeh can see and read what no one else can – also the radiologist who read my CT and MRI saw what no one else saw. I went to Los Gatos El Camino Hospital and they found everything Thank God! Dr.Rustamzadeh took such good care of me I can’t compare it to anyone he is Amazing and Good Samaritan Hospital was the Best, my Dr for life My Hospital for life.

Prior to Dr. Rustamzadeh’s, over the last 60+ years I’ve had four surgeries under general anesthesia, one an open-heart aortic valve replacement. Dr. Rustamzadeh performed a three-hour (exactly as he forecasted) microscopic (not endoscopic) bilateral lumbar laminotomy in six locations on my spine at Good Sam ~ a month ago. First and foremost, I can walk again – upright. My legs actually do what I tell them. I can sneeze and cough without being driven to my knees in agony. I am pain-meds free (prescription and OTC) for the first time in years. Not helping with my pre-op anxiety, prior to my surgery I read an uncomplimentary review regarding Dr. Rustamzadeh but chose to go forward as my cardiologist/PCP is batting 1.000 with his referrals as well as my previous positive experiences with Stanford doctors/surgeons. Because my awesome results speak for themselves, I wouldn’t have cared if Dr. Rustamzadeh were Dr. Frank Burns from M.A.S.H. I spent one night in Good Sam, which, by the way, was an excellent experience – staff is wonderful in pre-op testing, morning pre-op preparation and post-op care. During my brief stay as a no-risk/no-complications patient, Dr. Rustamzadeh dropped by no less than three times assessing my condition and issuing change orders as necessary. After my release, twice my wife called the Dr. through the office/exchange with questions. Within a half-hour she had her answer to one (on a surgery day, no less!) and actually spoke with Dr. Rustamzadeh very late one night for another (we thought) more pressing issue. So far, I’ve had three office visits during which I was seen either on time or early. Is Dr. Rustamzadeh bedside chit-chatty? Nope. He doesn’t appear to have too much time for that. He is efficient, quick, experienced, knowledgeable and communicates well with laymen on an understandable level. More importantly, did he change my life and my outlook for the future? Yes. And the real acid test: my (2x cancer survivor) wife was happy with our experience.

I recently was referred to Dr. R for my lower back pain of over 5 years, I thought this was going to be another pat on the back saying that this is normal aging pain. After Dr. R had looked at my mri and examined me he stated I needed a outpatient surgery. Since doing the surgery the back pain that I had is gone and I’m starting to get feeling back in my toes and have been nothing but happy with this.

Dear Dr. Rustamzadeh,
I want to thank you for giving me my life back. I have a long ways to go, but I’m going to do it for me and my family. Vasona Creek was amazing. You gave me a beautiful room and a Christmas. I will see you on April 12th.

Anterior Cervical Diskectomy & Fusion (C4-C7)
I was referred to Dr. Rustamzadeh by my orthopedic surgeon. He called Dr. Rustamzadeh a ‘cutting edge’ surgeon. I did my research on Dr. Rustamzadeh and I am very pleased with the outcome of my overall procedure. I had immediate relief from my primary symptoms & I am finding unexpected relief with the neuropathy in my feet, as well.
~ R.T.

Hemi-laminectomy; Microdecompression (L4-S1)
If there is one word to describe the surgery performed by Dr. Edward Rustamzadeh on my wife, Gloria, it would be ‘amazing’.  Dr. Rustamzadeh’s diagnosis and evaluation of the surgery needed was precise. He told Gloria that she would be going home on the day of the surgery.  As promised, we indeed went home. Gloria’s pain was so severe that she had to stop to sit almost every five minutes when she walked.  Gloria was completely free of this pain immediately after the surgery.  Of course, we highly recommend Dr. Rustamzadeh to anyone needing a neurosurgeon.
~ G.H.L

Anterior Cervical Diskectomy & Fusion (C3 Corpectomy/Fusion)
My recovery is exceeding my expectations by leaps and bounds. I am absolutely ecstatic with the results from Dr. Rustamzadeh’s procedure performed on me. I actually had 4 other opinions from Neurosurgeons and Orthopedic surgeons but was impressed with Dr. Rustamzadeh’s “state of the art” techniques. He thoroughly explained the surgery and did exactly what he said he would have to do to correct my spine issues. I trusted my life in Dr. Rustamzadeh’s hands and as a result of a successful surgery, my life, most likely, has been prolonged.
~ V.H.

Anterior/Posterior Lumbar Spinal Fusion (L5-S1)
I have had enormous progress since my surgery. My symptoms including numbness and tingling had disappeared right away. I am very happy with my results.
~ W.L.

Brain Tumor
Although I would not wish my experience of having a brain tumor on anyone, I would highly recommend Dr. Rustamzadeh as a neurosurgeon. I truly feel that my positive recovery from the surgery was in no small part due to the excellent and very supportive care I received from Dr. Rustamzadeh.

Anterior Cervical Diskectomy & Fusion (C5-C7)

When a patient is faced with the scary thought of having to make a decision about whether to have surgery or not, they hope that they make a connection with a doctor that understands what they are mentally and physically going through. Dr. Rustamzadeh is the type of doctor that lays it all out for you plain and simple. He is confident in his work, and relieves you of your insecurities of the unknown. I also was comforted to find out how well respected he is in his field by being surrounded by nothing but positive feedback by his peers while I was in the hospital. I feel very lucky to be under his care while nursing my body back to good health.

Was very professional and easy to talk too. Answered all my question’s.

Omg! What a great doctor/Surgeon he is. Suffering from spinal pain for over 2 years that no other doctors were able to find. Had been to several doctors, had so many MRIs done but no one was able to determine my problem. Dr Rustamzadeh is literally a God for me. My life savor. Many thanks to him and his wonderful staff!!!
~ T.B.

I can’t wait to get back right was some what curt but better than initial visit.
~ K.B.

Dr. Rustamzadah gave me my life back. It have been years that I could not sleep through the night. The extreme pain in my neck is all gone. I never thought that any doctor could take my pain away. Dr. Rustamzadeh performed a successful surgery. Thank you so much.
~ G.M.

He did what every other doctor said couldn’t be done – treated Piriformis Syndrome! I am now free to move about the country.
~ S.M.

I had a broken vertebrae (C2), that was misdiagnosed at the emergency room as “stable”, although I could feel a loose bone that did not seem to be there before. Dr. Rustamzadeh reviewed my CT scan on Dec 31, spotted the issue immediately, he saw me Jan 2 in spite of a busy schedule, and 8 days later performed a fusion (C2-C3) . Everything went well. Although I am not qualified to judge his work especially just 1 month after surgery, several things tell me that I was fortunate to be directed to Dr. R. by my worker comp insurance. The personnel of the hospital seemed to have a very positive reaction when they learned who did my surgery. Dr. R. is quite well known there and respected. Dr.R. is quite efficient, straight to the point, a keen sense of time management yet careful to explain & answer questions. His administrative staff is helpful and welcoming.
~ J.D.

The entire office offers exceptional service to their patients before and after the treatment. The stuff is always on it and does everything with a smile on their faces and the Dr Rastamzadech is fantastic. ?I wish I would found this doctor few years back.
